Opening Reception: Saturday, August 4
5 p.m. - Artist-led walk-through of each Fellow's work- 30 minutes for each artist to discuss their fellowship year, body of work, and future plans.

These four Twin Cities-based photographers received fellowships in spring 2006; their explorations since then are showcased in this exhibition, appearing for the first time at MCP under the banner of the Minnesota Center for Photography/McKnight Foundation Artist Fellowships for Photographers program. Since 1982 the McKnight Foundation of Minneapolis has provided support to individual artists to pursue their creative work; photography is one of twelve disciplines currently receiving this support through nine host organizations. The work of Heykants, Rutchick, Smith, and Strassheim reflects some of the most accomplished, inventive, and provocative image-making anywhere-not just in Minnesota, but in the international arena. Illuminated portraits, autobiographical tableaux, tourist landscapes, and library bindings are the thumbnail descriptions of these projects on the leading edge of contemporary photographic arts.
